New Vinyl Siding Installation
Going from stucco, wood, aluminum, or the builder’s original vinyl to a wall that is flat, flashed, and finished. We strip to the sheathing, fix what we find, wrap and flash the openings, then hang the panels. Soffit, fascia, and eavestrough go on in the same colour run.
Vinyl Siding Repair
Hail, wind, a stray puck, or a panel that was never locked in. We replace the damaged run, re-lock what’s loose, and re-flash anything that let water in. On colour: vinyl fades, so a new panel on a 15-year-old wall won’t be invisible. We’ll show you how close we can get before you decide.
Vinyl Siding Replacement
When the colour is discontinued, the panels have gone brittle, or more than a wall’s worth is damaged, patching stops making sense. A replacement lets us fix the sheathing and flashing the first install skipped. If the roof, eavestrough, soffit, or fascia need work too, we quote that in the same visit.

Vinyl comes in more profiles than most people expect. The right combination is usually one main profile, one accent, and a trim package that ties in the soffit, fascia, and eavestrough.
How long colour lasts comes down to three things.
The quality of the panel, which way the wall faces, and the weather it takes. Vinyl is coloured all the way through, so it won’t peel, but dark colours on south and west walls fade fastest. We bring physical samples to your quote and tell you which colours we’d trust on your sunniest wall.

We install Kaycan vinyl, backed by Kaycan’s 25-year fade resistance warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty. Not every colour comes in every collection, and screens don’t show colour accurately, so we bring physical samples to your quote.

We had a really great experience with Big 5 Exteriors - had our eavestroughs replaced. We communicated with Derek and he always got back to us quickly. Pricing was the most competitive out of all the quotes we got and the work done was done well! We would use them again in the future.
I've shared some before and after pics. My soffit & fascia was old, rotten and wasn't venting. I had received multiple quotes from multiple different companies and their pricing was very fair. They are also an established company who has been around for many years and had good reviews so it was an easy decision to choose Big 5. They tore down all the old eavestrough, wood soffit and wood fascia and replaced with all new. Turned out fantastic. They came when they said they were going to come and it was done in a few days. Big thumbs up to Big 5!

How much does vinyl siding cost in Calgary?
It depends on wall area, storeys, profile, standard or insulated, and what we find under the old siding. Your on-site quote gives you an itemized number for your house.
How long does vinyl siding last in Calgary?
Well-made vinyl hung with room to move can last up to 40 years. Thin panels nailed tight show their age far sooner. Hail, accidents, and exposure all play a part.
Will insurance cover hail-damaged siding?
Usually, as a claim. The catch is matching: new panels next to faded ones rarely blend, which is why many hail claims turn into a full re-side, and why it’s worth asking your adjuster about that up front. Our guide to home exterior insurance claims walks through it.
Does vinyl siding crack in the cold?
Cold makes vinyl brittle. Brittle plus a puck, a hailstone, or a tight nail is where cracks come from, which is why the panel and the hanging matter more than the thermometer.
Will vinyl siding buckle in a chinook?
Almost always because it was nailed tight or cut with no gap. Vinyl has to slide on its nails. That is the whole reason we hang it the way we do.
Does vinyl siding fade?
All vinyl fades a little. Light and mid tones barely show it. Dark colours on south and west walls show it most, so ask us before you commit to a dark colour on an exposed wall.
Is vinyl siding or Hardie board better for a Calgary home?
Hardie board takes hail better and lasts longer; it also costs more per square foot, for the material and the install. Vinyl wins on price and on never needing paint. We install both and will tell you which one your house and budget call for.
Is insulated vinyl siding worth it?
Worth it on uneven walls, exposed lots, and homes where a flatter, quieter wall matters. Not worth it as an energy play on its own; it adds about R-2 to R-2.7.
Can you put new vinyl over my old siding?
Sometimes, over flat wood or old vinyl. A tear-off is the only way to fix the flashing and rot the old siding is hiding, so that is what we recommend and what we quote first.
Does the season change the job?
Cold weather changes how vinyl is hung (wider gaps, careful cutting), and we don’t work in high wind, rain, or active snowfall. Hail season can shift dates. We give you the plan at the quote.
How long does the job take?
Most houses are done inside a week. Bigger homes, or jobs with soffit and eavestrough in scope, take longer, and we give you the working days on the quote.
What warranty comes with vinyl siding?
Both in writing. Our Big 5-Year Install Warranty covers the workmanship. The 25-year manufacturer’s warranty covers the siding itself: materials and manufacturing defects.
How do I look after it?
A soft cloth or soft brush and mild soap once a year. No pressure washer, it drives water behind the panels. Walk the walls after any big hail.
