Alu-Rex keeps your eavestroughs clear and holds them up through Calgary’s harsh winters.
Spruce needles, poplar fluff, and leaves fill open eavestroughs every fall, causing snow and ice to build up on top. Alu-Rex covers the trough with perforated aluminum, so water still gets in and the rest stays out.

The perforations in Alu-Rex guards let rain run through while keeping leaves and needles on top so they can’t block drainage. When they dry, the wind blows them away.

Two ways to keep debris out of your eavestroughs. What’s best for your roof?
T-Rex® and DoublePro™ are two of the most popular styles of Alu-Rex guards. Both options combine leaf guards with continuous hangers, and both types fit 5″ and 6″ eavestrough. The difference comes down to how many layers of perforated aluminum sit on top. Here’s why it matters:

T-Rex®
One layer of perforated aluminum along the full length of the eavestrough. Water flows through, while debris sits on top until it dries and blows off. Drains up to 29.7 inches of water per hour.
TWO LAYERSUPGRADED
DoublePro™
Includes a perforated top layer and a lower smart filter layer to block tiny debris like pollen and fine sediment while allowing water through. Drains up to 40.6 inches of water per hour but costs more than T-Rex.

Strength designed to keep your eavestroughs from sagging
Calgary snow can sit on an eavestrough for months, pulling it away from your roof over time. Unlike a standard eavestrough, which hangs from brackets spaced along the run, Alu-Rex fastens along the whole length and is rated to 250 lb per linear foot for T-Rex and 425 lb for DoublePro. This allows snow and ice to settle on the guard without pulling the trough down.

Will Alu-Rex work on my eavestrough?
Yes, if it’s 5″ or 6″. Alu-Rex fits most roof types and can be installed on new eavestroughs or the ones you already have.
What’s the difference between T-Rex and DoublePro?
T-Rex is our most popular system, with perforated aluminum along the full length. DoublePro has two perforated layers. We’ll tell you which fits your house during your quote.
How does Alu-Rex handle Calgary snow and ice?
Snow and ice settle on top of the guard instead of packing into the eavestrough. The continuous hanger system is also rated to 250 lb per linear foot for T-Rex and 425 lb for DoublePro to maintain structural integrity even under heavy snow or ice loads.
Does Alu-Rex clean itself?
Alu-Rex leaf guards are designed to be mostly maintenance-free. Leaves and needles sit on top until they dry, then the wind carries them off. You may want to sweep or wash stubborn debris like wet leaves off the top of your Alu-Rex guards every so often (usually no more than once or twice per year).
Does a leaf guard make cleaning harder?
No. Debris sits on top where it’s easy to brush off, and you can add access panels if you want to check the inside of the eavestrough.
How long does installation take?
There’s no factory wait. We measure and cut all Alu-Rex guards on site, usually the same day we install them.
What warranty comes with Alu-Rex?
DoublePro comes with Alu-Rex’s 360° lifetime clog-free warranty. T-Rex comes with lifetime manufacturing and sturdiness warranties and a 25-year prorated clog-free warranty. When your guards go on with new eavestroughing, they’re also covered by our Big 5-Year Install Warranty.
Is Alu-Rex worth it?
Alu-Rex is often a worthwhile investment if you normally clean your eavestroughs twice a year or they regularly overflow in the spring. Protecting your eavestroughing with Alu-Rex guards keeps you off the ladder and helps ensure consistent drainage for your roof.
Can you install Alu-Rex with new eavestrough?
Yes. We typically install it on our seamless 5″ and 6″ eavestroughs as part of the same job, and quote both together so you can plan for the whole project in advance.
